Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi believes Serie A should imitate the NBA’s bubble concept if the Covid situation in Italy gets worse.

“We miss football, the real football with fans, but that’s how we can play under the current circumstances,” he told Radio Deejay on Sunday.

“If we want to finish the season, the extreme solution is to close us ina bubble, like the NBA.

“We are professionals and we love what we do.”

Serie A has had several new cases Covid-19 among players and staff members over the last few weeks. The last two playes who tested positive are Inter’s Ashley Young and Verona’s Koray Gunter.

“The protocols are fine, in my opinion there must be two tests per week, even if it is an economic burden," De Zerbi continued.

“The protocols are fine, last year we completed the season.

“It’s not really about the protocol, but it’s about figuring out what’s gonna happen.

“Footballers and workers must take the right precautions, but many of us have children who go to school. When I come home I kiss my kids, they’re 15 and 17, they go out and you don’t know what they do.”
