Roberto De Zerbi acknowledges he may have denied himself the opportunity to coach Inter, Milan or Juventus after what he said yesterday: ‘But I would do it again.’
But Sassuolo did play and did win at the San Siro, thanks to a Giacomo Raspadori brace.
“Yesterday, I understood how difficult it is to take a position,” De Zerbi told Sky Sport Italia.
“I confirm what I said yesterday, but players of Milan, Inter and Juventus are excluded from that. Maybe I have denied myself the opportunity to go to one of these clubs, but I would do it again, because I am in the right place.”
Paolo Maldini said before the game he hadn’t known about the Super League until Sunday night.
“I was lucky to raise in a Milan side with true champions such as Tassotti, Boban, Maldini and Costacurta. Probably, there aren’t champions like them in any other club right now,” De Zerbi claimed.
“I am proud to bring something of that mentality with me. Milan are an important club, but if they touch my world, I must take a position.”
