Locatelli has a past at Milan and Boga at Chelsea, but Sassuolo picked them up on permanent transfers at a young age.

“We brought them here very young. We had the chance to bring them here outright and now they are huge assets of our club,” De Zerbi told Tiki Taka.

Berardi moved from Sassuolo to Juventus in September 2013 but returned immediately on loan and never moved back to the Bianconeri.

De Zerbi said the 26-year-old attacker, who was re-signed on a permanent deal with the Neroverdi in July 2015, rejected a move to Juventus because he ‘wants to have fun’.

“It depends on what a player wants. I know the lad well and I know he wants to have fun,” De Zerbi added. “I have to kick him off the pitch after every training, because he looks like a child in the park.

“If this is what he wants, then he was right not to go. But if he was aiming for career and ambition, he was wrong.”

De Zerbi has been linked with a move to Olypique Lyonnais, but stressed he feels good in Reggio Emilia.

“I don’t know anything, you have to ask whoever wrote this,” he added. “I don’t want to think about anything else [than Sassuolo].

“I’m fine here and that’s not clichés.”
