Inter defender Stefan de Vrij was forced off during the Champions League Round of 16 tie against Liverpool with a muscular issue.

The centre-back did not come back out for the second half at Anfield, as he was replaced by Danilo D’Ambrosio.

According to Sky Sport Italia, De Vrij had been diagnosed with a muscular issue, specifically a twinge in the left calf muscle.

It is not believed to be serious, but the Dutch international was taken off as a precaution by coach Simone Inzaghi.

De Vrij turned 30 last month and this was his 31st competitive match of the season in the Inter jersey.

He had already missed over three weeks of action between November and December 2021 with another muscular problem.
