Inter defender Stefan de Vrij said the award for best defender in Serie A 2019-20 represents ‘a confirmation of the level I reached in Italy last year’.
The former Lazio defender moved to the Nerazzurri on a free transfer in July 2018 and has continued his development at San Siro.
The 28-year-old was awarded for his performances in Serie A last term, as Inter finished second behind Juventus.

“The championship organiser decides based on how you play during the season,” De Vrij told Voetbal Primeur. “It’s a great honour.
“It’s a confirmation of the level I reached in Italy last year.”
De Vrij stressed he will never become a ‘dirty player’ and is even more proud of his achievement after doing ‘everything my way’.
“I have never been dirty,” he added. “That’s why I really like being picked as the best defender in Serie A.
“I did everything my way and that’s what gives me even more pride.”
