Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur to reunite with Antonio Conte but denied any contact with the former Nerazzurri coach. ‘I don’t know anything’.

The Nerazzurri centre-back is currently preparing for the Netherlands’ World Cup Qualifiers against Montenegro and Norway.

Former Arsenal striker convinced that De Vrij will ‘soon’ join Conte at Tottenham

De Vrij has been highlighted as a possible target for Conte, who recently joined Tottenham Hotspur, and rumours emerged in Italy regarding contact between the defender and his former coach.

But the 29-year-old, who joined Inter in July 2018 on a free transfer from Lazio, revealed he doesn’t know anything about a possible move to England.

“I deny these rumours,” De Vrij told Ziggo Sport. “I don’t know anything about anything. The connection is easily because the coach I worked with at Inter is now there [at Tottenham].

“Conte did not contact me about this. I’m focused on the national team, now this is my priority, then I’ll think about Inter, but certainly not Tottenham.”

De Vrij played a vital role in the Scudetto winning side from 2020-21, when Conte helped the club claim their first Serie A title in 11 years.

The Dutch defender, capped 54 times by Holland, has played 139 competitive games since joining the Nerazzurri and is currently in his fourth season at San Siro.
