Lorenzo De Silvestri hopes his versatility can help Italy against Croatia and Portugal, but his club future is up in the air.

The Azzurri have been experimenting with both 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 systems in training this week.

“My characteristics allow me to adapt to several different tactical systems, so it would not be a problem for me to play in 4-3-3 or 3-5-2,” said the 27-year-old right-back.

“I am very happy to be in the squad for these prestigious games. I will give all of myself and be ready if called upon.

“Our group is united and everyone is always ready to give advice. There’s the right mix of experienced and young players, while we also have the good fortune to work with one of the best Coaches and staff in circulation.”

De Silvestri is co-owned between Fiorentina and Sampdoria, so his future remains to be seen.

“This is the last year in which co-ownership deals are allowed. I am owned 50-50 between Fiorentina and Samp, so they will have to resolve the situation. I can only wait and try not to think about it.”

The Blucerchiati have a new Coach, Walter Zenga, while Fiorentina have just sacked Vincenzo Montella.

“I don’t know Zenga, but I expect a tactician of character who is hungry for results. He has a lot of experience both in Italy and abroad.”
