Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo has called on clubs to start pushing Juventus more and playing in a way that is not “too tactical”.

De Siervo was talking to Radio Anch’io Sport after Monday’s Lega Serie A assembly as he fielded questions about Juve’s dominance in Italian football.

Barring the occasional threat from Napoli in recent seasons, the Bianconeri have won the last eight Scudetti on offer.

“Nobody is against Juventus, but we need a competitive league with lots of goals,” asserted the chief.

“For too long we have seen games that are too tactical and therefore difficult to sell, but fortunately the numbers of viewers and attendances at the stadiums are rising.”

He then turned his attention to the Serie A TV rights, which are up for tender in 2020.

“We are the only league in Europe that has the distribution of TV money enshrined by law.

“However, we are far from the levels of England, where the rights are divided equally.”

Racism is a problem that has blighted the campaign, but De Siervo assured the Italian top tier was working on measures that would identify guilty individuals.

“We are working with the Ministry of Sport on a protocol that would enable us to see images of individuals who are the protagonists of racism and give out DASPOs [football banning orders].”
