Mattia De Sciglio hit out against Juventus after he was dropped from the pre-season training camp. ‘I want to make it clear this was purely a decision from the club.’

The squad travelled to Nuremberg this afternoon for the intensive training under new coach Thiago Motta and many were left behind for various reasons.

De Sciglio was one of those who did not make the cut and it was reported this was because he had fitness issues.

However, this irked the 31-year-old, who took to his Instagram Stories to set the record straight.

De Sciglio message to Juventus

“In recent hours, I heard some inaccuracies about me. I want to make clear that I am fine and do not have any physical problems, despite what was said by Sky Sport and other media outlets, so I was not called up purely as a decision from the club.

“I graciously ask the journalists to get the right information before they release incorrect news.”

It is not entirely unsurprising that De Sciglio was left behind because he is not a part of Thiago Motta’s plans for the future.

The full-back, who is able to play on the right or left, is under contract until June 2025 and was one of Max Allegri’s favourites back from their time together at Milan.

He joined Juventus for €12m in the summer of 2017 and had a loan experience at Olympique Lyonnais in 2020-21.
