Mattia De Sciglio has welcomed speculation that Milan could sign Newcastle’s Davide Santon in the summer.

Although Santon could potentially provide competition for a first team shirt at San Siro next season, De Sciglio has no concerns about his possible arrival.

“Santon is a great player,” De Sciglio, who made his Italy debut in the 2-2 draw with Brazil last night, stated. “He did well at Inter and he is doing well with Newcastle.

“Milan’s new policy is to focus on youth so Santon would be a great reinforcement for us.”

De Sciglio, 20, and Santon, 22, are both Under-21 international full-backs who are also in the plans of Azzurri boss Cesare Prandelli.

Santon yesterday revealed that, as a Milan fan, he would be tempted by the idea of joining the Rossoneri.
