De Sciglio injury more serious

Milan confirmed serious injuries for Mattia De Sciglio and Cristian Zapata, who’ll be out for at least six weeks.

Both players sustained these knocks during the 2-1 Coppa Italia victory over Sassuolo on Tuesday evening.

Today the club released a statement confirming the worst case scenarios.

De Sciglio has suffered a lesion to the plantar fascia in his right foot, which is a more serious injury than the originally suspected plantar fasciitis.

X-rays also confirmed Zapata has fractured the second metatarsal in his right foot.

Milan’s statement only points out their conditions will be re-evaluated over the next few weeks.

Reports suggest neither player will be on the pitch again until at least March.
