Mattia De Sciglio

Mattia De Sciglio reassured Juventus fans after undergoing a serious knee operation today following his recent injury.

The 30-year-old Italian full back suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the 32nd minute of the Bianconeri’s 2-1 win over Lecce back on May 3, an injury that could keep him sidelined for the rest of the calendar year.

It’s not been an easy campaign for De Sciglio, who also missed 15 games earlier this season with a hamstring injury. Despite his difficulties, the 30-year-old has seen 1371 minutes of action across 25 games.

Posting on his social media outlets after his operation, De Sciglio shared a photo of himself smiling in a hospital bed alongside the caption: “The countdown begins.”

The Italian full back’s Juventus teammate Federico Chiesa recently returned from a cruciate ligament injury, missing around 10 months of action after suffering the rupture in January of last year.

De Sciglio is contracted to Juventus until June 2025 and will be hoping to return to action in the first half of next season.
