Mattia De Sciglio acknowledges the insults and even threats from some Juventus fans were ‘unpleasant,’ but reiterates he ‘has done nothing wrong’ collaborating with the authorities.

The defender was the only player still in the current squad who reportedly handed over the WhatsApp messages to the Prisma investigators representing the Turin public prosecutor.

Other former stars did, including Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt, which was used as evidence to show the players knew full well that the announcement they were giving up four months of wages was not entirely accurate.

They were instead told from the start that this money would be repaid in different ways, for example as part of future contracts or sponsorship bonuses.

De Sciglio was singled out by some fans as a ‘rat’ for passing on the messages, leading to insults and even credible physical threats.

“I focus only on the field and I think that I should be judged only for what I do on the pitch,” De Sciglio told DAZN.

“As for the rest, I have done nothing wrong. I always give my all when playing with this jersey, because the priority for me is the team and Juventus.”

Allegri spoke highly of De Sciglio in yesterday’s press conference and praised the versatile full-back he had already worked with at Milan.

“It was certainly nice to hear those words, because they were unpleasant events and I am glad he took such a firm position with regards to me.”
