Morgan De Sanctis believes Napoli are on the right track to improve their League position and is ready to commit to the club long term.
The goalkeeper has been an ever-present since signing for the southern Italian side in summer 2009 from Galatasaray and speaking to Radio Marte this afternoon reaffirmed that he is happy to extend his stay at the club.
“This is a solid group with a Coach who manages the players well and protects us from exposure firsthand,” De Sanctis reflected.

“This is a solid group with a Coach who manages the players well and protects us from exposure firsthand,” De Sanctis reflected.
“Personally, I am happy here, I chose Napoli years ago and my choice has been rewarded.
“I am happy to wear this shirt and I’d like to extend beyond 2013 because Napoli is the top priority for me.”
De Sanctis played in midweek as the Partenopei eliminated Inter from the Coppa Italia at the San Paolo.
“You know I have always considered the Coppa Italia an important target. The performance put in against Inter shows how the team believes in the competition.
“Realistically we now have an open door to the final and we have no intention of underestimating Siena, who are a very good team. We will try our best to reach the final.”
The cup run, like the team’s progress in the Champions League this season, sits in contrast to League form. Consecutive 1-1 draws see the side sitting in seventh place at the end of the first round of fixtures. Meanwhile, De Sanctis has not kept a clean sheet in Serie A in nine games.
“In the League we have dropped a few points. Perhaps what makes the difference is not the defeats, currently only four, but the draws.
“Last year, some games we turned around at the end, but this season, however, we have not always been as lucky.
“Overall, the team has grown technically and plays with much more authority. This is demonstrated by the successes achieved over the big teams – I can list Villarreal, Manchester City, Inter and Milan.
“We now need to find the right balance to be brilliant against the less notable teams. Against us, most opponents are defensive so it is up to us to find the best way to prevail.
“This will be the grounds on which to work and we are confident we can produce a great second round of fixtures.”
De Sanctis was then asked what he would say to those who have criticised the team’s results and performances in the first half of the League campaign.
“For their passion and love, Napoli’s fans deserve a Scudetto every year, but we know that football is a tough world where clubs can grow only with planning and rationality.
“For this, I say to our people to look at what the team produces on the pitch, without listening to criticism, avoid being influenced by defeatists.
“In a few years we have achieved some exceptional things. The club is working on a big project and today’s reality is that Napoli are a force in Italy and Europe.
“It is a model of efficiency to follow and I am sure we will grow even further in the future, if we continue along this road.”
