Daniele De Rossi’s Boca Juniors suffered elimination in the Copa Libertadores semi-finals, despite a 1-0 win against arch-rivals River Plate.

De Rossi returned to the Boca squad after a month out with a hamstring injury, but he was fit enough to be named on the bench at La Bombonera last night.

Unfortunately for him, the former Roma midfielder remained a substitute and Los Xeneizes ended up going out to River 2-1 on aggregate.

The 36-year-old has played just five times for the Argentine giants since arriving over the summer.
