Daniele De Rossi claims Luciano Spalletti “made a mess” at Roma last season with Francesco Totti and that “we all suffered a bit” from it.
Totti was regularly left out of Roma’s starting line-up towards the end of the previous campaign, prompting speculation that the pair had fallen out and resulting in the now-Inter boss being whistled during the latter’s farewell on the final day of last term.

Totti was regularly left out of Roma’s starting line-up towards the end of the previous campaign, prompting speculation that the pair had fallen out and resulting in the now-Inter boss being whistled during the latter’s farewell on the final day of last term.
“I was right to say that replacing Spalletti would be difficult,” the midfielder said at a Press conference for the Giallorossi’s Champions League decider against Qarabag on Wednesday.
“However, I didn’t say it was impossible. This has been shown by our journey [under Di Francesco], and our the results are there for all to see,
“It seems to me that Di Francesco’s first six months have been our best, first six months ever. Even Spalletti didn’t do so well on his return.
“Spalletti made a mess last season. As you know, there was a particular atmosphere with Francesco [Totti] and we all suffered a bit.
“Still, I also want to point out the goodness of his work.”
