The Giallorossi midfielder was speaking at an event to promote Rome’s bid for the 2024 Olympics.
“In my sport, if you come second, then you are considered a failure,” noted De Rossi.
“Instead the Italian football team bringing home a bronze medal at the Olympics in 2004 was something unique, something gigantic.

“We football players should learn from this. It would be wonderful to bring the Olympics to Rome and I’d be happy to see it as a sportsman and an athlete, even if I’ll be too old to take part.”
