Fiorentina are waiting to hear back from Daniele De Rossi, but the former midfielder is still waiting for Roma to take action, reports detail.

The 40-year-old Italian coach has been one of the sensations of the season since taking over from Jose Mourinho back in January, immediately impressing in the Giallorossi dugout. In his first 14 games in charge, he has secured nine wins and three draws, only suffering two defeats.

When De Rossi agreed to take over at Roma, he didn’t waste time negotiating a contract and signed off on a six-month deal worth just €500,000. Considering his strong start, a new deal is expected, but for now no offer has arrived yet.

De Rossi decision

TMW details how Fiorentina want De Rossi to accept the job in Florence in the summer, needing a replacement for the outgoing Vincenzo Italiano. The former midfielder has made Roma his priority and is now waiting for a new contract, keen to move forward in the capital.

The Viola haven’t lost hope yet but aren’t willing to wait forever and so have started evaluating a number of alternatives including Alberto Aquilani, Alberto Gilardino and Raffaele Palladino.
