Daniele De Rossi has clearly identified Cagliari’s Matteo Prati as a serious target for Roma this summer, believing the talented midfielder to be the perfect addition to his growing project.

The 40-year-old Italian coach quickly managed to impress in the Giallorossi dugout after taking over from Jose Mourinho back in January, even if he was ultimately unable to guide the club to the Champions League, managing a sixth-place finish in Serie A.

De Rossi is already hard at work with the Roma directors planning out the club’s summer transfer market and will soon pen a multi-year contract, ready to build a new project in the Italian capital. Sweeping changes are expected, although he’s keen to retain certain stars like Paulo Dybala.

Prati on Roma radar

Page 25 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how De Rossi is seriously keen to be reunited with Prati at Roma, remembering the talented midfielder well from their time together at SPAL. The 20-year-old impressed this season with Cagliari, proving himself in the topflight.

The Italy Under-21 international has a €15m price tag in Sardinia and the strong relationship between the two clubs could prove key in negotiations this summer.
