On April 15 1989, close to 100 fans were crushed to death during an FA Cup semi-final between the Reds and Nottingham Forest.

In 2016 a second coroner’s inquest found that the supporters were unlawfully killed, as a result of negligence by police and ambulance services.

There is a memorial to those who passed away outside Anfield, and ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League semi-final first leg, Giallorossi captain Daniele De Rossi laid a wreath on behalf of the squad.
