Daniele De Rossi has reportedly made a dramatic U-turn over joining Fiorentina and could now retire.

Il Messaggero, Gazzetta dello Sport and Sportitalia all reported De Rossi had accepted Fiorentina’s offer of a one-year contract, which included the option of a second season.

However, Il Tempo writes that ‘after a thousand hesitations’, the former Roma midfielder informed the Viola on Friday morning that he would not be signing for them.

However, Il Tempo writes that ‘after a thousand hesitations’, the former Roma midfielder informed the Viola on Friday morning that he would not be signing for them.

The newspaper adds he still has an offer to play for MLS side Los Angeles FC on the table but that he rejected a move to the US for both logistical and family reasons.

As it stands, the 35-year-old will end his club career having played for only Roma, where he could now become a director or coach.
