De Rossi expects important test

The seemingly meaningless Euro 2012 qualifier against Serbia will be of some value to Italy, says Daniele De Rossi.

The two teams meet in Belgrade on Friday with the Azzurri already assured of top spot and qualification for the European Championship.

Nevertheless, the Roma midfielder believes the game will serve them well ahead of the Finals in Poland and the Ukraine.

"We're playing away from home, so this is definitely an important test for us," the central midfielder noted.

"Serbia have some top players, all of them from European Leagues and many of them actually play in Italy.

"Serbia are a team at a level that we will be facing in Euro 2012 next summer so it will be a good challenge for us."

De Rossi is expected to start the game in Belgrade in a midfield that may include Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio and Riccardo Montolivo.
