The former midfielder has now retired from his playing career, after a brief spell at Boca Juniors, and wants to start a new experience as a coach.

He had been linked with the job of Bologna youth team coach, but that was officially given to Luciano Zauri today.

According to Calciomercato.com, De Rossi will meet with Roma CEO Guido Fienga to discuss potential roles in the new club following James Pallotta’s exit and the takeover by The Friedkin Group.

De Rossi’s father, Alberto, has been the Roma Primavera youth team coach since 2014 and working within the academy since 1997.

He could join coach Paulo Fonseca’s staff, or work with his father in the youth academy that he came up through as a kid.
