Tommaso Baldanzi is expected to cover a new role at Roma this season and Daniele De Rossi is ‘totally’ convinced that the Italian talent can shine at the Stadio Olimpico this term.

Roma coach De Rossi has high expectations for Baldanzi, who will be deployed as a Mezzala – a box-to-box midfielder this term.

When Gazzetta asked the former midfielder if he was really convinced about Baldanzi’s new role, DDR replied: “Yeah, totally. Tommaso is a player I really like. He has quality and intensity. Sometimes, when he plays on the wings, he lacks a little bit of strength, but he is unpredictable in the middle. He is always active and dangerous.

“I think he is improving so much,” continued De Rossi.

“He will soon be decisive in the last 16 meters; perhaps it’s the last thing he needs to become very strong. He is too smart and he has quality. I like him so much.”

Baldanzi, an attacking midfielder at Empoli, joined Roma in the 2024 January transfer window in a €10m deal.
