Middlesbrough midfielder Marten de Roon is reportedly “a step away” from joining Atalanta, a year after leaving the club.
According to Calciomercato.com, De Roon’s return could be finalised on Wednesday, having been identified as “the missing piece of Gian Piero Gasperini’s midfield jigsaw”.
The Orobici are expected to pay €13m plus bonuses for the Dutchman, who “had been pushing” for a move back after Boro’s relegation from the Premier League.
