Marten De Roon has left the Netherlands squad early, as he serves a one-match ban and won’t take part against Italy in Bergamo on Wednesday.

The midfielder played the full 90 minutes of the 0-0 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina in the UEFA Nations League but was booked during the match and thus suspended for the meeting with the Azzurri on October 14.

The match will take place at Atalanta’s home ground, the Gewiss Stadium, and De Telegraaf reveals De Roon has pulled out of the national retreat and returned home earlier than first planned.
