The Dutch midfielder has established himself as an important member of a successful Orobici squad and the former Heerenveen star wants to stay at the Gewiss Stadium.

“The city of Bergamo is very close to the team, the people of Bergamo are very committed,” De Roon told the club’s official website.

“In recent years it’s easier due to the good results, but the first year we were fighting for safety and the stadium was always full.

“They have the same mentality as us Dutch people. First, you have to work hard and sweat, then the results arrive.

“My family and I are very happy here. We are attached to the city and to tell the truth, I hope to stay here for many more years.”
