Marten de Roon ‘can’t wait’ to get on the pitch against Villarreal this evening, as Atalanta begin their Champions League campaign.

“I can’t wait to get on the pitch tonight, as I can finally play and hope to put in a good performance,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.
He has been sitting out a Serie A ban so far, and this will be his first competitive match of the season.
Atalanta have had a very rough start to the Serie A season, managing just four points from the opening three rounds, losing to Fiorentina on Saturday.
“We have been lacking goals so far, but we never really started well in previous seasons either. We always seem to struggle at the beginning, but hope to get back on track from this evening.
“It’ll be tough tonight, as Villarreal play very good football, but we want to play our usual way. A win would be a great way to start the group.”
They are in the same group as Manchester United and Young Boys, who kicked off earlier today.
