It was rumoured this morning that the Rossoneri were considering the centre-back as a January alternative to Inter’s Andrea Ranocchia, and his representative admits a deal is not out of the question.

“When we’re talking about Milan and Genoa, we’re talking about a very tight relationship between the directors and the Presidents,” Diego Tavano pointed out in an interview with MilanNews.

“If there’s something there then it would be primarily an idea between [Milan CEO Adriano] Galliani and [Genoa President Enrico] Preziosi, then later it would be put to us.

“We’re in October though, so it’s premature to talk about it, and it’s also worth remembering that De Maio has a contract until June 2019.

“He has to stay focused on Genoa, be professional and we won’t express judgements or opinions on anything else until there’s something concrete.

“De Maio must think only of Genoa and their fans, then if later Milan come into play a bit more we’ll make our assessments.

“It’s clear that when we’re talking about Milan it’s a very big club, I can only imagine De Maio’s possible state of mind, but for now he’s just thinking about the Grifone.”
