“If teams like Fiorentina are closing ranks and putting men behind the ball when they face us then it is only a positive thing,” said De Leo in his press conference.

“We must improve the speed of execution and the mobility of the players as well as the need for everyone to take more responsibility in shooting and dribbling.”
Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was previously in charge of Torino from 2016 to 2018, and De Leo says there is still some resentment from Mihajlovic and his backroom staff as to how things ended with the Granata.
“There was a strong disagreement from the group towards that decision, and the relationship still continues to this day with many of the Torino players.”
New signing Dominguez is in the squad after being formally registered by Bologna, so what are De Leo’s impressions of the 21-year-old?
“I confirm what I said a week ago. He is eclectic, he can connect the areas of the pitch and so we can take advantage of that.
“He is an option to replace [Gary] Medel, also because he has characteristics that our other midfielders don’t have and has great personality.”
Asked whether Bologna are thinking about Europe, De Leo says they aren’t even contemplating it.
“No. Our goal is to improve last year’s performance, and we must try to reach the maximum of our potential, which the group haven’t done yet.
“However, we must not look too far ahead, remaining ambitious is a rational way to achieve our goals.”
