Mihajlovic was diagnosed with leukaemia in July and had three courses of chemotherapy.

He was discharged from hospital last week and a statement on the club site confirmed Mihajlovic had undergone a bone marrow transplant from a non-related donor.

The Rossoblu are on a bad run of form, and have only won once in their last six games in Serie A ahead of the Emilia-Romagna Derby.

"We have to start putting points on the board. The coach reiterated the concepts and priorities we need to put in place. We put in place a procedure that is well addressed from the start of the season. What is more important is his recovery, which is going well and his presence will help us greatly."

De Leo says that due to the mixed nationalities of the Bologna defence, they tend to speak in English, but he would like them to communicate more in Italian.

"Certaintly communication is important, especially in such a difficult situation. English is the main language, but they want things explained to them in Italian also."

Bologna will be without defender Mitchell Dijks and Roberto Soriano.

"Dijks has resumed training for a couple of days but is it too soon to say whether he will recover or not. Soriano has a bruised knee and the doctor told us we will have to wait a few more days before another examination."

Bologna face a Parma side in very good form, so what is De Leo expecting from the Gialloblu?

"They are in a good moment, they have a good identity and a good tactical balance. It's true that they have absences in attack, but I don't think [Roberto] D'Aversa will change anything."

The Rossoblu have an injury crisis up front, with Rodrigo Palacio the only fit striker, so what will De Leo do?

"Mattia Destro is training again and Federico Santander will soon be back with us. Saying that, we can't do much else at the moment. We have to ask our current players to adapt to different positions. However, we have the characteristics to be effective in attack."

Bologna are 15th in Serie A, Parma are eighth.
