La Dea are showing what Serie A minnows can truly achieve after reaching the Champions League Round of 16.

“They are an example for all of us. From a technical and managerial point of view, they are a reference point. Our wish is to gain consistency to climb up the table, to have growing ambitions," said Sinisa Mihajlovic's assistant manager in a press conference.

Bologna narrowly lost to Milan last weekend, and De Leo says they are working on the technical aspects of their game.

“I would like to clarify the concept of errors. For us they aren’t individual but technical, we can’t say we lose games due to individual mistakes. We are working during the week to improve on the technical aspects that aren’t correct.

“We must increase our focus during the 90 minutes, especially against a team like Atalanta that is very good at reading situations during games.”

De Leo confirms that attacking midfielder Roberto Soriano is out through injury.

“We must find alternatives. It’s important to have offensive players in order to be able to change things in the course of a game. For example against Parma we missed an attacker with a physical presence.”

De Leo was again stepping in for Sinisa Mihajlovic in the press conference, and was asked what message did the Serbian give to the squad.

“The key word is trust. He has immediately established a strong relationship with the team and it is a concept that we have to take on board.

“Even yesterday at the end of training, Sinisa went into the locker room to congratulate the lads.”

De Leo was asked why Andreas Skov Olsen seemingly plays better for the Denmark U-21s than for his club.

“Perhaps we expect everything immediately from talented players, but they need to acclimatise. At U21 level, Skov Olsen doesn’t face as strong defenders as he does here.”
