To pick up five wins from five games in December is the task Aurelio De Laurentiis has handed Walter Mazzarri and his Napoli side.

The President has looked ahead to this month’s fixture list and has declared that his Partenopei should be targeting maximum points.

Napoli play Lecce this weekend, whilst there are scheduled League fixtures against Novara, Roma and Genoa all to come before the winter break. Meanwhile the club also face Villarreal in the final match of their Champions League group stage campaign.

“We can return in the championship to the position we deserve. I want everything, we can win 12 points from the next four games and make it to the next round of the Champions League.

“We have the numbers to achieve this, provided, however, that we always play as we have against the biggest in Italy and Europe.”

The movie mogul reiterated Coach Mazzarri’s message from earlier this week; that games such as the weekend’s one with Lecce must be approached with the full respect of the opponent in mind.

“Napoli must be hungry, we have a series of games less complicated than the previous ones. However, we should not get distracted as the so-called small teams no longer exist.

“Indeed, especially in the first round of League fixtures this season team values have levelled out and we have realised our own misconception.

“We prepare for Lecce as we did for Juventus, without thinking about Villarreal.

“[The fitness of Edinson] Cavani? We’ll see how he is and then Mazzarri will decide if it is best to preserve him for the Champions League. The changes [to the team] are justified, we must give space to those who have played less to prove their worth.”

De Laurentiis has also moved to suggest the team will not be taking action in the winter transfer market.

“We must stop calling everything into question. There are players like [Miguel] Britos, for example, that we have yet to try. Then there are those on the road to recovery like [Marco] Donadel.”
