Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis celebrated the memory of Diego Armando Maradona and revealed there will be a statue of the Argentine in the Partenopei dressing room too.

The Neapolitan fans gathered in front of the mural depicting Maradona in Napoli shirt in the the Quartieri Spagnoli to celebrate the memory of their hero, who passed one year ago.

The Azzurri patron De Laurentiis held a speech during the one-year anniversary of the death of Maradona, who left us at 60 on November 25, 2020.

“You cannot question legends, like the Gods of Olympus,” De Laurentiis said, according to Sky Sport Italia. “There’s no actor who can imitate him, he’s the Pibe de Oro and will always remain.

“It’s a shame not to have him with us. Sometimes we are considered strict in managing the Napoli players, but at this moment it’s right.

“Maradona still releases a lot of energy, you see how many adore him, from 300 Boca fans came from Argentina, we must applaud all these people who have come to worship their idol.”

The President of Napoli then attended the unveiling of the statue dedicated to Diego Armando Maradona.

“We work to place the stadium at the level it deserves, it will take time,” De Laurentiis added. “Fortunately, the Mayor contacted me to reassure me that he wanted to do everything as soon as possible.

“We will put more statues of Diego in the stadium and also in the dressing room, where the players can touch the hand or foot of the God of football before entering the pitch.”
