Aurelio De Laurentiis met Napoli players and Luciano Spalletti before this morning’s training session highlighting his disappointment with their run of bad form.

The Partenopei lost 3-2 at Empoli on Sunday, conceding three goals in the final ten minutes. The defeat on the Tuscan soil ended their title hopes and initially convinced Napoli to send the team into a training retreat.

However, the club partially changed their mind opting to reunite the team for dinner every day until Saturday.

Spalletti confronts Edo De Laurentiis, Napoli target Gasperini

De Laurentiis spoke to the players today, asking for an explanation for their recent disappointing results. He had also talked to Spalletti on Monday, highlighting his bitterness for some controversial statements of the Tuscan tactician over the last few weeks.

According to the report, Spalletti’s position isn’t safe, although the club won’t take any decision before the end of the season. The Tuscan tactician earns €6m gross per season and his contract expires in June 2023. Gian Piero Gasperini, Vincenzo Italiano and Roberto De Zerbi have been linked with the job at the Stadio Maradona.

  1. Adl has had his contribution to napoli’s resurrection but it’s clear that he and his family are now a toxic presense. His son seems to have no real interest in the club. Cash out and leave the club to someone willing to invest and with higher goals. Also, gasperini and de zerbi – not a good idea. Italiano might fit in pretty well imo.
