The club President is currently in the USA, and Tuttosport takes Mediaset’s initial assertion further, in believing that the film producer might be looking to sell the club to a group of American investors.

The Turin-based newspaper reports that De Laurentiis has already held a face-to-face meeting with an American filmmaker, who represents an investment group that would be looking to buy a majority stake in the San Paolo outfit.

However, it is believed that the group is wary of taking on Napoli’s ownership structure, and the difficulties which would be presented by changing it.

Should a deal be reached, Napoli would become the third major Italian club to fall under foreign ownership, following Roma, currently under American James Pallotta, and Inter, under Indonesian Erik Thohir.
