During his press conference on Wednesday morning, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed he would discuss Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract extension at the end of the season, while Florentino Perez is preparing a new European competition worth €5 billion.

Napoli President De Laurentiis held an explosive press conference on Wednesday. He blamed himself for letting title-winning coach Luciano Spalletti leave last summer and explained his plans for the club’s future, including building a new stadium and training centre.

During his lengthy meeting with the media, De Laurentiis also spoke about the future of Georgian star Kvaratskhelia and confirmed he will discuss the winger’s contract extension within a few months.

“I called Kvara’s entourage three months ago, and we met in my office,” ADL revealed, as quoted by TuttoNapoli.

“I wrote down what I wanted to do, how to extend his contract and they said not to be worried, that Kvara is happy here and that we’ll talk again at the end of the season.”

Napoli were not among the clubs included in the original Super League project launched in 2021, but ADL has always been pretty critical of UEFA.

In a recent interview, Barcelona President Joan Laporta said the Partenopei will be among the four Serie A clubs involved in a new tournament that is being prepared by A22, the company behind the Super League.

“I’ve always said it was wrong, but when I met Florentino in Alicante when I went to a slimming clinic, I told him that the Super League was the triggering factor, like in movies and that we could not remain there with Italy having the same importance as San Marino when it comes to voting. It’s an anti-democratic monopoly,” said ADL.

“Florentino has had a solution from the European Court of Justice, and now he’s studying a new competition worth €5 billion.

“The Super League idea is wrong, domestic leagues are needed. It’s the priority because fans are the core of everything. However, is it possible to have a European championship to rejuvenate the current competition? Games on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays could meet our schedule.”
