Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis says Juventus signing Gonzalo Higuain “wasn’t very elegant”.

The Bianconeri triggered the striker’s release clause this summer, taking him to Turin for a fee of €90m payable over two years.

“Higuain was a great, professional player,” De Laurentiis told Sky Sports UK after the Football Leaders event in London.

“You can’t oblige people to remain, especially when in the contract there’s a price at which they will automatically be sold.

“I was not expecting an Italian club like Juventus to do that, that was new and for me it wasn’t very elegant.”
