Aurelio De Laurentiis says Napoli haven’t yet won the Scudetto under his ownership because ‘sometimes somebody steals what belongs to you.’

De Laurentiis spoke to Ottochannel ahead of tonight’s friendly match between the Azzurri and Benevento at the Stadio Maradona.

“Napoli reborn in 2004, after bankruptcy, we’ve played in Europe for 12 years in a row, perhaps there isn’t another Italian club that has done the same,” the Napoli president said.

“Of course, we should have won a Serie A title, but it is not enough to be a strong team to do so. You must avoid incidents and sometimes somebody steals what belongs to you.”

Napoli came close to winning the Scudetto in the 2017-18 campaign under Maurizio Sarri.

The Azzurri collected 91 points in 38 games, but somehow that was not enough to win the third Serie A title in their history as they finished four points behind champions Juventus.

  1. sarri bottled it. keep looking for things that aren`t there, bufoon. oh and did you address that fact that you were UNBANNED from losing points last year using POLITICAL reach; weaklings? forgotten about that didn`t you?. nothing is `stolen`, except a Juventus scudetto form the sponsors and missing wire taps

  2. More BS Italian excuses and paranoia.
They were celebrating on the streets after beating Juve 1 – 0 in Turin in 2018, then were hammered by a poor Fiorentina team in the next game. That must be who stole from them – Juve’s best friends, Fiorentina.

  3. This man is out of his mind. Should’ve checked on his own players they must’ve been too drunk to play after partying hard the night before the Fiorentina match.

  4. I mean I’m neither a Juve or Napoli fan but I just seem to remember the parties that happened after that 1-0 win against Juve . Was a little premature if you ask me the players lost focus they self destructed. I mean that’s what I remember anyway.

  5. It’s true. they lost the scudetto in the hotel room, while watching the scandalaous Juve game. Juve bought the referee in that Juve – Inter game. the napoli players suffered psychological defeat that night. They might think that it was impossible to win the league when Juve and the corrupt officials were in charge. It seems pretty clear for everyone, except for Juve fans.
