Tuttomercatoweb reports that De Jong is unhappy about being frozen out of the squad, while the club are not keen to pay his €3m per season salary to have him sit on the bench.

Despite the former Manchester City man only having renewed his contract in the summer, the website speculates that the Diavolo could look to move him on in January.

Keisuke Honda and David Lopez are also candidates for a winter departure, with the Japanese international in poor form, and the goalkeeper having lost his place to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
