Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Ge is open to the idea of joining Genoa on a free transfer, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The 33-year-old Spanish shot stopper has been a free agent since leaving the Red Devils in July of last year, spending an entire season of football on the sidelines. He was replaced by former Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana in the starting lineup.

Genoa are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper after selling Josep Martinez to Inter and are keeping their options open, wanting to ensure coach Alberto Gilardino has the right reinforcements for his second Serie A season in charge.

Di Marzio details how De Gea has opened up to the idea of signing for Genoa, believing in their project, and the club now have to decide whether to move forward for the former Manchester United man or not.

The Spanish shot stopper spent 12 years with the Red Devils from 2011 to 2023, making 545 appearances across all competitions, keeping 190 clean sheets.
