Genoa have decided to push for a deal with David de Gea after the former Manchester United goalkeeper agreed to join the club, reports detail.

The 33-year-old Spanish shot stopper has not played a single minute of football since leaving the Red Devils in July 2023, deciding to spend a year on the sidelines as a free agent after a 12-year spell with the Premier League giants.

Genoa are looking around for a new goalkeeper following the sale of Josep Martinze to Inter and have been in contact with De Gea, who is ready to return to football after a year out of action. The 33-year-old has already given his green light for the move to the Ligurian capital.

During his time with Manchester United, the Spanish goalkeeper made 545 appearances across all competitions, keeping 190 clean sheets.
