De Bruyne forced off in Champions League final

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne was forced off the pitch due to a muscle issue in the Champions League final against Inter.

The 31-year-old Belgian is one of the best midfielders in the world and a vital part of Pep Guardiola’s electric squad, linking up perfectly with the ever-decisive Erling Haaland. This season, De Bruyne has scored 10 goals and provided 31 assists in 48 matches across all competitions.

De Bruyne had to be replaced by Guardiola in the Champions League final after seemingly suffering a right flexor issue. He tried to carry on after initially noticing the pain and had a short but animated discussion with the Manchester City coach on the touchline. Phil Foden came on to replace the 31-year-old.

De Bruyne’s early exit will come as a slight blessing to Inter, considering his ability to dictate matches and provide incredible passes to Haaland and his Manchester City teammates.

The Belgian midfielder missed Manchester City’s last game of the Premier League season but played 76 minutes of their FA Cup final win over Manchester United. He was also forced off the pitch due to injury in the Cityzen’s Champions League final loss to Chelsea back in 2021.
