It is reported that Inter Coach Frank De Boer’s position is still under threat ahead of the Nerazzurri’s meeting with Atalanta.

A poor run of recent results has left the San Siro outfit languishing in 11th place in the Serie A table, while a terrible start to the club’s Europa League turned up the heat on the Dutchman still further.

Thursday’s win over Southampton provided the former Ajax boss with some welcome breathing space, but according to Gazzetta Dello Sport the performance did little to convince Inter’s hierarchy that things are improving.

According to the Italian sports daily, the 46-year-old’s future is in the balance and could depend on securing a positive result in Bergamo on Sunday.

De Boer’s short tenure at San Siro was the subject of much speculation last month, but a famous 2-1 win over Juventus appeared to have brought an end to it.

As it is, names such as Francesco Guidolin, Stefano Pioli, Andrea Mandorlini, Leonardo and Marcelo Bielsa are again being linked with the hotseat as the pressure on the current Coach increases once more.

However, the favourite remains former Paris Saint-Germain and France boss Laurent Blanc.
