De Boer: ‘Inter have faith’

Frank de Boer insists the Inter hierarchy have “a lot of faith” in him, and says the team are “much more relaxed”.

The Dutchman was under pressure ahead of yesterday’s Torino match, with some outlets reporting he could be sacked regardless of the result.

However, it appears the Nerazzurri may have been impressive enough to ensure his place on the bench for the immediate future.

“I always have confidence in my team,” De Boer told Premium Sport today.

“We started other matches well, but yesterday I saw a very disciplined Inter for the 90 minutes, which created a lot and didn’t give many chances away.

“We dominated, and that’s how I want to see my team play.

“I’ve always believed in the team, we just have to understand that we’re not just individual players, but a whole team who should play together.

“When we that we can get results against anyone, we saw that against Juventus and also at times against Roma, where we could have won. We can play very well, but only if we’re united.

“Things can get difficult when you lose three in a row, when you can’t change certain things it becomes tough. Yesterday we were much more relaxed.

“The team all gave good indications, and that’s what I always want to see from them.”

President Erick Thohir came to see the team yesterday, while owners Suning are in Italy for tomorrow’s meeting.

“He has a lot of faith in Inter, and we have to continue like this. He’s always very positive, I’ll help him if I can.

“When we started here in Italy we talked with the owners right away. They’re all united and that’s very important for me, it’s the only way we can work well.

“We have to always create this situation, even in difficult times.

“I started here with a plan and a philosophy, and I’m convinced my philosophy is good. We started at a difficult time though, everyone knows that.

“In some games we played well, in others not so well, but if we believe in this project the results will come.”

The Coach also praised captain Mauro Icardi, who scored two goals after his dispute with the Ultras.

"I've always had faith in him," De Boer said.

"In training he's giving good signals, working hard. That's what I want from my captain, who is an example."
