The Ferrara outfit are now bottom of the table following today’s defeat, and Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the club are pondering a managerial change.

Former Albania coach Gianni De Biasi had been contacted two years ago about replacing Semplici, but the latter was given a reprieve.

However Di Marzio now states that SPAL are considering approaching De Biasi about taking over the job once again.

De Biasi has been out of work since a brief stint in charge of Spanish side Alaves in late 2017, that lasted less than two months.

SPAL have only amassed nine points this season, winning just two games.

Semplici took them to consecutive promotions from Serie C back to the top flight, ending an absence of 50 years.
