Napoli are ready to make an approach for Benfica’s Brazil international winger David Neres, claim reports in Italy and Portugal, and a deal could be done for €25m.

The Partenopei are revamping their tactics under new coach Antonio Conte and need players who can bring more width to the side.

The Corriere dello Sport and A Bola both suggest that Neres fits the bill and there have been some initial talks, but no formal offer yet.

He plays primarily on the right flank, but can also be used on the left or as a trequartista.

The 27-year-old has eight senior caps for Brazil, scoring one goal, and joined Benfica back in 2022 from Shakhtar Donetsk for €15.3m.

Under contract until June 2027, it is reported that a proposal worth €25m would be sufficient to snatch Neres towards Napoli, despite the presence of a €100m release clause.

He would be the replacement for Jesper Lindstrom, who is in negotiations for a transfer to Everton.

His previous clubs are Ajax and Sao Paulo, but in two years at Benfica he contributed 17 goals and 25 assists in 83 games.
