Napoli are reportedly only a step away from securing a deal for Benfica winger David Neres as they work on the final details.

The Partenopei’s summer transfer market has been a little muted as they’ve been unable to close out the sale of Victor Osimhen yet, with no club willing to pay his €130m release clause. Paris Saint-Germain have been the most serious suitors and could return to the fray soon.

Napoli have managed to pick up some reinforcements for Antonio Conte’s squad, however, signing Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino, Rafa Marin from Real Madrid and Leonardo Spinazzola and Matija Popovic on free transfers.

Napoli close to David Neres

Page nine of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Napoli are close to finalising a move for David Neres after agreeing to the terms of his contract. His agent Giuliano Bertolucci met sporting director Giovanni Manna in Rome on Wednesday, where an agreement was reached.

The Partenopei are now working on setting up the deal with Benfica, ready to pay a fixed €25m plus €5m in add-ons. His arrival will add a key boost of creativity in the final third of Conte’s squad.
