Roberto D’Aversa felt Parma “deserved the victory for all the chances we created” in a stoppage-time 2-1 Coppa Italia win over Frosinone.
The result, sealed by a Hernani spot-kick at the 92nd minute, sets up a Round of 16 encounter with Roma next month.
“I really liked the first half performance, less the second, when we gave our opponents reason to believe in a comeback, despite the fact there were no doubts we deserved the victory for all the chances we created,” the coach told Rai Sport.
“We really wanted to get through to the next round. We showed a great deal of determination, I had a good response from Luca Siligardi, while Andrea Adorante was coming off an injury and needed to play.”
When the penalty was awarded for a foul on Juraj Kucka, why did Hernani take it?
“Kucka can take penalties too, the hierarchy depends on what we see in training. It was an important moment of the match, so the mentality was also crucial.”
