Roberto D’Aversa believes Parma’s 5-2 defeat against Atalanta is ‘too heavy,’ but acknowledges his players don’t have the right attitude.

The Ducali have already been relegated to Serie B, but their nightmare season continued with a 5-2 defeat against Atalanta at the Stadio Tardini.

“If I analyse all the performances, I think we can have regrets for the home game against Bologna and the first half against Crotone,” D’Aversa told Sky Sport Italia.

“We’ve always put in good performances, but results are the most important things. Today’s defeat is fair, maybe a little too heavy, but when you make mistakes against a strong team like Atalanta, it’s normal to face the consequences.

“We could have done more, we created a few goal-scoring opportunities in the first half,” the coach continued.

“We concede goals too easily. What matters at any level in football is to have the right attitude and the desire to win every duel.”

Simon Sohm returned to action for the first time in almost three months and scored a goal in the second half.

“He has important qualities, he is very young and must learn how to use his physical skills.

“He also needs to improve on a tactical level, but this is a different league than the one he used to play in and young players need time to evolve and improve.”
